About Me

I specialize in providing pediatric occupational therapy that is customized to meet the unique needs of each child. With 12 years of experience across California and Hawaii, I bring a diverse background in hospital, private sensory integration, and school-based services. My passion is to help children thrive in their natural environments and reach their fullest potential.

Independent educational evaluations are unbiased assessments that can provide tailored recommendations to empower student success.

Professional Background

I studied child and family development for my undergraduate degree at San Diego State University.  While in college, I worked as a preschool teacher and an in-home applied behavior analysis tutor for children with autism.  I attended University of Southern California for my master's degree in occupational therapy and occupational science.  I received two scholarships during graduate school including a merit-based scholarship and the Therapeutic Occupational Therapy Services (TOTS) grant to specialize in pediatrics.  I completed fieldwork rotations at Sharp Medical Center in San Diego, CA for inpatient rehabilitation and Pediatric Therapy Network in Torrance, CA for school based practice, early intervention, and sensory integration clinic based therapy.

Experiences

I have worked for three school districts including: Covina Valley (Los Angeles County), Davis Joint Unified, and Elk Grove Unified School District.  I worked at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu, for five years serving the intensive care unit, inpatient services, outpatient services and early intervention clients.  While in Hawaii, I worked one day a week at Sprouts Therapy, a sensory integration facility serving kids age 5-14.

Innovative

Approach

My approach to occupational therapy is to identify how we can make the student's experience match their potential.  I look at the environment, modifications, teaching styles, and cuing, as well as the student's learning style and personality.  My goal is ultimately to make a skill generalize-able so that if the student can do it 1:1 with me, that they can do it in their natural learning environment.

Parent

My son had the privilege of being under Ashlee’s care as his school OT for two years. He absolutely thrived under her unique ability to tailor his therapy to his needs, even under the constraints of public school. She focused on building a trusting relationship and allowing him time to be comfortable with her. Ashlee was then able to partner with my son to increase his ability to self-regulate as well as improve vis fine motor skills. I would recommend Ashlee to anyone looking for a thoughtful and thorough OT
